Our Story

We have been to the African continent several times over the last decade and have completely fallen in love with the people, the landscapes and the wildlife that this incredible continent has to offer. We loved it so much that we got engaged here back in 2015 and we came back again in 2018 to get married!

Since our wedding in Tanzania we have been dreaming of visiting the continent again but due to work commitments and then Covid it was not possible to do so.

However, with the world opening up again we both decided to quit our jobs in the corporate world and travel to the continent of Africa for an entire year!

Our Wedding in Tanzania

Our friend created the fantastic video above of our safari Wedding experience in Tanzania. It will give you an insight into the awe which we held for the Serengeti and its incumbent wildlife.

We aren’t too sure what compelled us to shun the traditional wedding in the UK for something as exotic as getting married in the bush, but it just felt right. It was a magical experience with a few unexpected and magical surprises sprinkled in throughout the day.

If you just want to see the wedding itself then skip to 09 : 00 on the video and you will see how we got married by a Maasai Chief!

Our wedding in the heart of the Serengeti  really cemented our love for the African continent and we both knew that our story in Africa was far from over, we just didn’t know when & what our next adventure would be…

Our 2022 Adventure

Field Guide Apprenticeship Course in South Africa

Now you know a little of our love for Africa, you are probably wondering what we are doing this time around…

Well we are very excited to announce that we have both enrolled on a Field Guide Apprenticeship course, learning all about the flora and fauna of the Marakele National Park (South Africa) where we will be living for 6 months!

It is such a great opportunity to be able to do this and so we thought that a blog would be a great way to keep everyone updated on our adventure!

Whilst we do not know what exactly is in store for the 2nd half of our adventure, we have some great ideas for places we want to go and potential projects we might like to get involved in.

Our regular blog posts will keep you up to date on our plans and hopefully give you a lot more insight into what a “Field Guide Apprenticeship” even means amongst many other aspects of our new life!

We look forward to sharing our time with you

James
